Celebrating 222 Years
"Together, we are his house, built on the foundation of the apostles and the prophets. And the cornerstone is Christ Jesus himself."
Ephesians 2:20

Who we are
Indian Creek Christian Church was founded in 1803 as a result of the Restoration Movement, which originated from the Cane Ridge Revival of 1801 in Paris, Kentucky. This long history has allowed Indian Creek to be used by God to impact lives in and around the tri-county area.
We are a body that believes in the Triune God, the Inspiration and Authority of Scripture, Humanity's need for the Savior, Baptism by Immersion, and the Second Coming of Christ.
We strive to align ourselves with the teachings of the New Testament. That is why we gather on Sunday for worship, prayer, biblical teaching, the Lord's Supper, and fellowship.
When we gather, we do so to glorify our God and encourage believers to live out the Great Commission, to love God holistically, and to love our neighbor as ourselves.
Jesus is our Head; under Him, we are elder-protected, staff-driven, deacon, and volunteer-supported.
WHAT WE BELIEVE
God We believe in one Godhead, eternally existent and expressed in three Divine persons. Genesis 1:1-2, Isaiah 44:24, 45:18, Matthew 3:13-17, 28:19, John 1:1, 14:16-17, 2 Corinthians 13:14, 1 John 2:12-14
The Father We believe there is one true, all-powerful, all-knowing, and living God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth. He is the first person of the Holy Trinity. Genesis 17:1, Deuteronomy 10:17, 1 Chronicles 29:11, Nehemiah 9:6, Job 28:24, 34:21, Psalm 19:1, 33:8-9, 90:2, Isaiah 26:4, 40:28, 63:16, Jeremiah 17:10, 32:17, Habakkuk 1:12a
Jesus Christ We believe in Jesus Christ as the Son of God. He is the second person of the Trinity. He was conceived under the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. We believe Him to be truly God and truly man. The uncreated, Eternal Word made flesh. He lived a sinless life, was crucified, died, was buried, and on the third day, He physically rose from the dead. He ascended to heaven, where He is seated at the right hand of God, the Father. From there, He will return as King of Kings and Lord of Lords to end all evil, making all things new. He will come again and will be the Judge of all. Matthew 1:1, 18-25, 3:17, 16:16, 17:5, 25:31-46, Luke 1:26-35, John 1:1-18, 3:16, 5:17-18, 8:58, 14:6, 20:28, 31, Acts 7:55-56, 1 Corinthians 15:3-7, Philippians 2:5-11, Hebrews 1:3, 4:15, 13:8, Revelation 19:11-16, 21:1-8, 22:12-13
The Holy Spirit We believe that the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity, is a Divine Person, eternal, uncreated, possessing all the divine attributes, and coequal with the Father and the Son. Jesus describes Him as the Advocate who will never leave the Child of God. "He leads to all Truth. He comes from the Father, testifies of Jesus, and convicts the world of sin, God's righteousness, and the coming judgment." The Holy Spirit transforms and empowers believers, equipping them for godly living. He indwells, seals, and engifts all believers. Isaiah 11:2, John 6:33, 14:26, 15:26, 16:7, 13, Acts 5:3-10, Romans 8:16, 26, 1 Corinthians 6:19, 12:1, 2 Corinthians 3:17, Galatians 5:25, Ephesians 1:13, 4:30, Titus 3:5, 1 John 2:27, Revelation 22:17
The Bible We believe the 39 books of the Old Testament and 27 books of the New Testament to be the inspired and infallible Word of God. The Bible contains the Truth of all we believe, written by human authors under the Holy Spirit's leadership. It is not to be revered as God or equal to any person of the Godhead. The Holy Spirit works with the Scriptures to direct believers. Neither the Holy Spirit nor the Word of God will oppose one another. The Holy Scriptures are alive and active; they should be read in public and private worship for God's glorification and the believer's edification. Deuteronomy 8:3, Joshua 1:8, Psalm 119:105, Proverbs 30:5, Isaiah 40:8, Colossians 3:16, 2 Timothy 3:16-17, Hebrews 4:12, 2 Peter 3:15-16
Humanity We believe God wonderfully creates each person, and personhood begins at conception. He made male and female in His image. These two distinct biological sexes are complementary, and together, they reflect the image of God. We teach that man was created good but willingly sinned against God. Therefore, all humankind has inherited a broken nature bent toward sin. All are held accountable for their own sinful choices. Thus, humanity needs a Savior. Genesis 1:26-27, Deuteronomy 24:16, Psalm 139:13-14, Isaiah 44:2a, Ezekiel 18:20-21, 30, Romans 3:23, 5:12, Revelation 20:12
Salvation We teach that Christ came to reconcile creation back to its Creator. He did this by living a sinless life and dying in our place. Christ was the perfect substitute; only His sacrifice can make man right before God. Salvation is accomplished solely by Christ's work and not man's effort. One is saved by the gracious gift of God through personal faith. Romans 3:24-26, 5:10-11, Galatians 3:1-7, Ephesians 2:8-9, 16, Colossians 1:13-14, 20-22, Titus 3:5, Hebrews 10:10-12
Faith The Bible teaches that following Jesus involves a deep trust and a desire to live according to his teachings—surrendering oneself wholly to Christ's Lordship. One demonstrates this personal faith by making the decision to turn away from sin, openly confessing Jesus as Lord and Savior, and receiving water baptism by immersion. Luke 9:23, Romans 10:9-10, Acts 2:38
Baptism Baptism marks one's entrance into a life of discipleship, the journey of denying self and seeking to be led by the Holy Spirit daily. It is a declaration of and identification with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection. Baptism is only available to those who have the capacity to make the choice to follow Christ. Romans 6:3-4, Galatians 3:26-27, Ephesians 4:5
Communion Communion, or the Lord's Supper, is the commemoration and declaration by believers of Christ's death until He comes and should be preceded by careful self-examination. We invite all baptized believers to participate in communion weekly. Matthew 26:26–29, Mark 14:22–25, Luke 22:14–23, Acts 2:42, 20:7, 1 Corinthians 11:23-28
The Church Upon accepting the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior, all believers become part of His body- the Church. There is one universal Church composed of all true believers. The Church is the Bride of Christ. The Scriptures command believers to gather to devote themselves to worship, prayer, teaching from the Word, observance of the ordinances (baptism and communion), fellowship, and service. All things must be done in an orderly manner when we gather to glorify God. Acts 2:42-47, 1 Corinthians 14:26, Philippians 2:1-5, Colossians 3:12-17, Hebrews 10:24-25 As the body of Christ, we are called to fulfill the Command of Jesus known as the Great Commission, to love God holistically, and to love our neighbor as ourselves. Matthew 28:19-20 & Mark 12:30-31 As a local part of the Body of Christ, Jesus is our Head; under Him, we are elder-protected, staff-driven, deacon*, and volunteer-supported. We practice local church membership to promote unity, accountability, support, and love among the body. Ephesians 4:1-5, 11-16, 5:23, 32 *All those in an Elder or Deacon role must meet the Biblical Qualifications outlined in 1 Timothy 3, 1 Peter 5, and Titus 1.
Marriage From the beginning of creation, God instituted marriage as an exclusive, monogamous, lifelong sacrificial pledge between one biological man and one biological woman before one another, God, and their respective families. Marriage is a gift from God, which serves as a picture of the relationship between Christ and His Church. Anything sexual outside of God's designed dynamic is a sin. Genesis 2:18-25, Matthew 5:31-32, 19:3-9, Mark 10:11-12, Luke 16:18 , 1 Corinthians 6:12-20, 7, Ephesians 5:22-33, Hebrews 13:4
Death and Eternity The consequence of sin is death. As a result, everyone will physically die. After this, all will stand before Christ in judgment. Those who have placed their faith in Christ will enter into rest and eternal fellowship with Him. Those who have not trusted in Christ will be eternally separated from God. Romans 6:23, Matthew 25:45-46, Hebrews 9:27, Revelation 20:10, 15, 21:1-8
